English 9: Literary essays for “Speak” are due this Thursday. Students are expected to bring their full rough draft to class tomorrow.

English 10 (per. 3): Our research essays are due this Friday. Students are expected to bring two paragraphs from their rough draft tomorrow to class.

English 10 (per. 4): Our research presentations begin tomorrow in class. Students are responsible for having their visual ready at the start of class. I recommend putting your slideshows in the T Drive or emailing me.

English 9:

Two Quizzes tomorrow:
1 – Subject/Object Pronouns
2 – Fourth Marking Period of “Speak”

We have also begun working on our literary essay for the novel.

English 10 (per. 3):

We have finished our unit on Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night”. Today we started work on our end-of-year research essay. For Thursday, students must have their topic/thesis decided along with three articles they’ll use as references.

English 10 (per. 4):

We have finished our unit on “Crabbe” and started work on a research presentation today in class.

English 9: The assignment for the First Marking Period of “Speak” was due today in class. We also have a quiz on Thursday on the Second Marking Period.

English 10 (per. 3): Your readers’ theatre assignment for Act IV of “Twelfth Night” is due on Thursday. Be ready to perform.

English 10 (per. 4): Our quiz on common writing errors is on Friday. We’ll also be finishing our novel ‘Crabbe’ this week.

English 9: Our poetry unit has finished and we’ve moved onto the novel “Speak”.

English 10 (per. 3): Your assignment for Act III is due at the start of class on Thursday. We will also be having a quiz on Thursday for Acts 1-III of ‘Twelfth Night’.

English 10 (per. 4): Your Personal Response #2 is due tomorrow in class (MLA format). Your essay is due on Thursday at the start of class.

English 9: Poetry Projects are due tomorrow. We will also be having an end-of-unit poetry quiz. Please review the terms we have covered and be ready to apply them to two new poems that will be on the quiz.

English 10 (per. 3): The Act 3, Scene 1 assignment for ‘Twelfth Night’ is due at the start of class tomorrow.

English 10 (per. 4): Your completed rough copy for your persuasive essay is due by the end of class on Friday.

English 9: Two acrostic poems are due (MLA format & good copy).

English 10 (p. 3): The Stephen King Film Festival starts on Monday, so all films and trailers are due. These will not be accepted later than Monday. Also, the Act II assignment for ‘Twelfth Night’ was due Friday in class. If you did not get that handed in, please submit it on the weekend.

English 10 (p. 4) The assignment for Journal 11 of ‘Crabbe’ is due on Monday.

English 10 (per. 3) – Act 1, Scene 5 assignment of “Twelfth Night” is due on Monday.

Also, students should finish filming this weekend. Remember, the movie is due on Thursday, April 19th.

English 10 (per. 4) – Journals 5-7 are to be read for Monday, and the five total questions are due at the start of class.

English 9: REMINDER – Our independent novel study concludes this week. All assignments are due at the start of class on Friday.

Also, our second written poem (“I Am”) is due at the start of class on Thursday (April 12th).

English 10 (per. 3): All class work for the Stephen King Film Festival should be handed in. If your group has not passed something in, please get it to me ASAP.

The films are due next Thursday, April 19th.

English 9: We are in the middle of our Independent Novel Study. Students are to have their novels/books read for when they return from Easter. On Friday, April 13th, the project they chose to do is due. Their options were: a book talk, two One-Pagers, or a book report.

We’ve also begun our poetry unit. Over the next few weeks, students will be introduced to different poetic devices/terms, will read and analyze selected poems, and will write a few of their own.

English 10 (per. 3): Part II of the Stephen King Film Festival was due today. It included a written component ( a summary/treatment ) and a pitch to the class.

Part III (the screenplay and storyboards) will be due on Wednesday, April 4th.

English 10 (per. 4): The final challenge in our tribal challenge will take place tomorrow as each tribe has created a script based on an important scene from “The Lord of the Flies”. The script must be in my inbox before class, and the performances will be done tomorrow in class.
